General Manager
Jack Widagdo, is the general manager of Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain, brings his well-traveled 22-year’s hospitality experience to the role, having worked with renowned hotels across Asia and the Pacific. Focused and highly proficient in managing both city hotels and resorts, Jack is currently on his fourth assignment in China.
A passionate hotelier, Jack has taken up pivotal positions in the luxury hotel world, spanning 13 destinations in five countries, which include Four Seasons multi-properties in Thailand; the iconic Sir Norman Foster-designed Capella in Singapore and Jimbaran, Bali; classically-styled Kempinski in Sanya, China; the jungle property Mandapa – a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Ubud, Bali; and most recently, the two Alila resorts in Zhejiang, China.
Jack counts both his native Bali and Sydney, where he was educated, at home. He is an active alumnus of the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School, part of the Laureate International Universities network, where he became the first overseas student in the campus’ history to graduate as Dux of the Year.
Commenting on his new role, Jack remarked, “Change is constant and being in a different destination – with the Pandas of Sichuan and the revered Tao mountain of Qing Cheng – is truly exciting,” Jack says that his guiding philosophy is that if you take good care of your hosts, they will take good care of guests. His philosophy includes remaining true to being a strategic-thinker, serial trouble-shooter and professional leader “Emotional Hospitality is defined not only by what guests are saying, but also by what employees are saying. Expect in 2020 some exciting additions to our Local & Crafted Experiences within the resort.”
When not pouring his heart and soul into hospitality, he may be found indulging in his other passions of traveling listening to jazz, sitting in nature beneath a tree and reading a good book with a cigar and a single malt.
